A few months back, the students of Dublin’s Sound Training Centre (where I got my Diplomas in Sound Engineering & Music Tech) have released a charity album called “Silver Lining”. The album is in support of the charity Headstrong, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Ireland. The compilation features covers of 1986 music hits and are performed by some of the most popular acts in Ireland.

“The Meaning of Sound, According to You”

From Sydney to San Francisco and from Tokyo to Rio, SoundClouders and enthusiasts are invited to join SoundCloud for global get-together.

Every day we encounter sounds that affect us in many different ways. We use sound to communicate, to connect with people all over the globe, to process information, to express ourselves. We create sounds for the same reasons, sometimes explicitly, sometimes implicitly.

We are happy to announced the Dublin Meetup is free and will be hosted at SING SING (beneath Mercantile bar) on Dame Lane starting at 7pm. All producers, radios, labels, artists or simply enthusiasts are invited to join us and share their experiences of sound.

I discovered Levity Breaks a few months ago and I was quite impressed by their sound. My opinion was and still is that they are a band to watch. For what i’ve heard so far, they produce catchy and melodic tunes with powerful progressions and stunning vocals. On September 22nd, 2011 at the Radar in Belfast, they are officially releasing their new single called “The Floor”.

Solely produced by the band, “The Floor” is a song that makes us wonder why we are doing or not doing something. With Marty’s effortless vocals, Richie’s driving and energetic guitars, Jonny’s hammered pianos and Lenny’s hard hitting drums, it urges us to get up and just do it. The song has a powerful hook and I can easily imagine movie scenes where it could be used.

We’ve done it! We’ve finally merged our website and blog to WordPress. We have been quiet lately but have no fear, we are resuming our postings. We will continue to share with you our music discoveries, interviews and band/musicians’ tips.

Let’s kick this off with a blog about why WordPress is a great platform for your band – and we should have made the switch a long time ago ourselves ;-)

As a band, you absolutely need to have a hub where your fans gather and having a Facebook or Twitter page isn’t enough.

Ok. Let’s face it. When there is a new thing in town we all want try it. Well I do ;-) So when I heard of turntable.fm I was very interested to try it out. Being a DJ and always eager to discover music I thought the idea was quite interesting. At the moment, to sign on, you are required to have a Facebook friend already using it which I did. I loved the concept of having head bopping peeps with DJs playing tunes.

Ok, guys. I have not been in touch for some time now but for a good reason ;-) Lately I have been working on a project called Youtipit and we just launched the new and improved user interface.

Youtipit is an online community service that enables people to tip others for their online content. It’s like when you walk on the street and hear a musician playing and you toss some money. The idea is essentially the same with Youtipit. You like what you, read, see, hear, you give tips.
