We all agree that music is available everywhere, right? And we agree that there is loads of it?
Then, how can you stand out as a musician or a band?
Music is everywhere and easily available. How can you stand out?
Create compelling artwork. It’s that simple!
Today, I would like to share this video.
Listen with your eyes!
“I need nothing” is an original concept from Cãoceito + Burdman, shot by Moopie. It was inspired by the theme of Biennial’s EXD’11, an international biennale dedicated to design, architecture and creativity. The music was lent by Parenthetical Girls.

We all know how important it is for an artist to engage with their fans. Facebook, Twitter and other platforms have enabled a more direct fan to artist approach but let’s push it further. How about answering questions from your fans in a recording?
Take Questions is the perfect tool to do so. Jointly with SoundCloud, people can record their questions for you to answer them back. It’s that simple.

“spamming (verb) : Send the same message indiscriminately to (large numbers of recipients) on the Internet. ”
You should not post your track on anyone’s profile (eg someone’s wall on Facebook) without their permission. It is a bad approach and does nothing to increase your fan-base – quite the opposite really. This is called SPAM. You have a better chance to get your music heard, if you take the time to send a private message with a link to your music and information.

Now that you are on SoundCloud, why not stream directly onto your website?

Bloggers are always looking for new music to review. They like discovering great new work. Until you can hire a PR person to do that for you, don’t be afraid to send yours. You have to start somewhere. Ok, you might not get reviewed, but then you might. Just for that reason, you should send your music to bloggers.
At the last SoundCloud Global Meetup in Dublin, I gave some tips and tricks about online integration. Thinglink was one of them. What is Thinglink?
Thinglink makes your images talk. That’s right. You tag your images to links. This means that you can expand your image interactions by adding links to your online profiles, your music and sounds, your online shop, a gig’s venue, etc.

What’s up with the indie artists contact info? Would you not like us to contact you for a booking or an interview? Isn’t it ironic that social networks are there for you to engage with fans and yet I can’t contact you?
I’ve noticed that a lot of independent artists omit to give proper contact info.
Read MoreWhy am I writing this post? Because I’m annoyed. Because I have been listening to a lot of music lately and have found great work out there but no where to buy it or no hub where I can find more details about the artists. If the artist’s job is to communicate with their music, the music needs to be available, and even more so in the digital world. If I like you, I will buy your music but it has to be an easy and quick process.
Read MoreA great way for artists to leverage their online presence is to broadcast online their live gigs. It’s a great way to reach out globally as well as locally. We all know that going to a gig isn’t the same as watching it via online live streaming. We all would prefer to be at the gig and live the experience but sometimes we just can’t make it. Having the options to watch it online is a good alternative. It is also good for promoting and bringing awareness to the artists works. It’s not very hard to set it up, it just takes a bit of planning.
